About the project
This is a series of analogous collages that pay homage to famous paintings such as
The Birth of Venus,
Mona Lisa, and American Gothic, among others. I’ve based them on harmonious colour schemes, that allowed me to give a fresh look to a classical creation.
Creating something from physical materials is another kind of pleasure for me, they provide a tactile quality
to the artwork while granting me a chance to see the result not only on my computer (and this is rewarding). Although time-consuming, the process of creating analog collages can be meditative in a certain way. You
are creating a new whole from the constituent parts, which requires precision and patience.
The idea came to me after I created the first collage in a monochrome scheme,
I recognized Venus in my work right away. This led me to wonder why not recreate
other famous paintings in the same way.
